What are Age Related Facial Changes?

The naturally-occurring age related facial changes can be summarised by the 3 D’s of aging-

DeflationDeterioration and Descent.

Deflation happens as a result of the bone structure diminishing and shifting at varying degrees and the fat pockets in the face (cheeks for example) also shrink.
Deterioration of the skin becomes apparent when we age, due to the fact that the skin becomes thinner and loses its strength, hydration and elasticity. Brown spots can appear as can the appearance of small veins and large pores. The skin loses its smoothness and youthful glow due to the inefficient shedding of old dead cells from the surface of the skin, and an uneven texture can appear.

Descent of the fat around the cheeks and lower face gravitates downward and, since the skin is thinner and less elastic, folds can appear-particularly directed downwards from the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) and between the cheeks and the upper lip area.
The Triangle of Youth

Reversal of Triangle

The facial “triangle of youth” where there once was a narrower lower face has now been transformed by age into a “squarer” visage.

Dual Plane™ Facelift is a signature combination treatment designed to target the same tissue plane as a surgical face lift and simultaneously restore elasticity to the superficial skin structure by combining deep tissue plane tightening with Ultherapy® and upper skin structure tightening with Thermage™.

Ultherapy® is a non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift skin.
Tissue laxity is largely the result of structural weakening in the skin’s foundation (SMAS/Platysma) at approximately 4.5mm deep.
Prior to Ultherapy®, this layer was only accessible during a surgical facelift.
The Ultherapy® procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer to non-invasively target the same deep tissue planes as a modern facelift —without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.
The Ulthera® System is the only non-invasive device that allows clinicians to see where they’re treating.
Using Ulthera’s patented DeepSEE® technology, the system provides real-time ultrasound visualization of the skin down to 8mm.
This “See & Treat” technology lets clinicians verify energy is being delivered at the correct tissue depth , ensuring the treatment energy is delivered to where it will be most beneficial.

Thermage™ uses patented, FDA cleared technology that delivers heat deep into the skin to rejuvenate existing collagen and stimulate new collagen growth.

The result is a face and neck that looks and feels noticeably smoother and tighter.
Benefits of Thermage™ non-surgical face lift include:
• Smoothes and tightens skin
• Contours along the jaw line and sagging skin under the chin (i.e. “turkey neck”)
• Softens wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, and forehead

Ultherapy, Thermage, Or Both?

Thermage has been around since 2002 and Ulthera since 2009
Both technologies can stimulate collagen
However Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology (treating inside out) and Thermage uses RF radio frequency (treating outside in)
Ultherapy is the only proven device with a visual aide to help the treatment provided treat a precise area zone, making it ideal for deep tissue tightening – cheeks, double chin, jowls
Thermage is ideal for targeting the outer skin layers to stimulate collagen production, and treatment of bony areas with “thin skin” – eyes, forehead

Thermage and Ultherapy are not competitors – they complement each other for the ultimate non-surgical face lift – The Dual Plane™ Facelift
